Dominican Republic located around the island of Hispaniola. They have a current population of 10.77 million. This Caribbean nation primarily speaks Spanish with some people who know creole because of their neighboring island Haiti. Currently this nation has a democratic government and uses the form of money called "pesos". The capital of the beautiful island is Santo Domingo. This is one of the oldest Caribbean cites.  Traveling to the Dominican Republic In order to go to the DR All United States citizens must have a valid passport to enter.  Dominican  immigration authorities will deny entry to persons arriving without a valid  travel  document. Where to stay: Punta Cana  is one of the safest  vacation spots  in the Area. It is not very common of any thefts. My Family Originates from the Dominican Republic. Today I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. Both sides of my family are from the Dominican Republic no mixed races or anything involved. Because of our culture I learned Spanish before English it was more comfortable since I was raised by my aunts. Just a little more than 3 years ago we moved here to Georgia From New York. No Atlanta is nothing like New York City. And no longer how long I am here I will still be a New Yorker by heart.
